I didn't think I'd have any time this weekend to spend at the torch, what with DH Russ & I spending the Australia Day weekend with his siblings in Rosebud, but luckily enough, yesterday was very slow with regards to my medical transcription job, and I spent most of the afternoon in the studio putting together this new set of beads for you folks. They're up on eBay right now. Hope you like them!

Well, I better keep this short (and sweet?!). I hope to have more beads available for you within the next week - maybe even within the next few days if the medical work stays slow. TTFN!

Heath Ledger. . .

So, Heath Ledger has passed. I'm not at all interested in celebrity, but I admit, I was shocked at this. I never really had an opinion of him one way or the other. I enjoyed his performance in A Knight's Tale, but apart from that, I don't remember seeing him in anything else (I'm one of the few people who've never seen Brokeback Mountain and/or 10 Things I Hate About You). However, for some reason, this really shocked me - perhaps because he was one of the few celebrities that wasn't in your face 24/7, perhaps because he never really seemed to be involved in scandal, or perhaps because he was Australian. I feel for his young daughter, who will grow up never knowing her father. I feel for his parents - there could be no more painful experience in life than outliving your children. But most of all, I feel for Heath himself - a young life cut short. If nothing else, this makes me realise the importance of showing those around you how much you love them. None of us, no matter who we are, have anything else but the current moment.

And here's a photo of the beads I was talking about in yesterday's post - 28 rounds - all encased too. They're up on eBay right now. I really like these - I was >>THIS<< close to actually keeping these for myself, but what the heck, I can always make more for me (it might only take me six years LOL).

It's "only" taken me 6 years, but I finally decided to make a bracelet for myself from my beads. For some crazy reason, I always felt a little guilty using my own beads in jewellery for myself - I guess that's because any time I sit down at the torch, I feel like I should be working.

Anyway, I decided that this weekend I was going to spend at least one day working on nothing BUT beads for myself, and this bracelet is the result. I'm really happy with the end result.

And what about beads for you guys and gals? Well, you'll be happy to know that I spent all day today working on a brand new set - I haven't counted exactly how many beads will be in the new set, but I think it's around 26 or 27 - all rounds in neutral tones (black, tan, amber, etc, etc). I've received a lot of emails the past few weeks from buyers telling me they've missed my round beads, so... if you've missed them too, then make sure to pop back tomorrow morning to check them out.

Oh, and next weekend DH Russ & I are spending a few days in Rosebud with his family, so the set I list on eBay tomorrow will be my last one until at least 4 February.

Thought I'd share a 'sneak peek' photo with you. This is part of a new set I'll have for sale on eBay on Monday 14 January. I have four more beads to add to this set, including a yummy focal, that are still in the kiln. Pop back tomorrow morning if you'd like to check them out at auction.

Not much else to chat about at the moment. We're having roast lamb for dinner this evening, and Mum, Russ & I have been sitting on our back deck for the past hour enjoying a glass of wine whilst waiting for that to cook. Thankfully the weather today was a little cooler - I can't believe how awfully hot its been in Melbourne the past month. Normally the weather in Melbourne is cooler than Sydney, but we've had a number of days since summer started that have reached well over 40C. The only good thing about the heat is that Russ & I finally bit the bullet and purchased a few air conditioners - the house has been blissfully cool for the past week - they were definitely the best investment we've made for a while!
